May 1-15,2024 South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and New York.

We did a quick stop in Myrtle Beach on our way north. The weather was just beautiful so we strolled along The Barefoot Landing and spent a couple of hours at the beach.

From there we found a Passport American RV park. Passport American is a membership we have that offers half price camping. This particular campground is $60 for the night, which we would never spend, but with the membership we got it for $30. They had awesome showers and we did laundry. Unfortunately the pool looked pretty green so we didn’t go for a swim but that would have been nice because the temps are in the high 80’s right now. They also have a winery here. Greg went over to check out the nonalcoholic wines and came back with two bottles. Basically non alcoholic wine is just expensive grape juice.

Today we are heading to Mikes Farm which is a Harvest Host location. This will be our third time stopping there on the way back to NY. It’s a must stop kind of place for me because of the amazing meal they serve there at the restaurant. We basically had the entire farm to ourselves once the restaurant closed.

Next day we headed to Goose Creek State Park. They have a regular RV area with brand new cabins and an unbelievable bathhouse. We had access to the bathhouse but stayed in the primitive campground which was a little further into the park. Our site, #14, was right on the water. And again, we had the whole place to ourselves. Such a great campground in the Pine Forest with lots of trails.

We loved it so much that we decided to stay a second day but had to move to a different site as all the lake front sites were gonna be taken. Actually, it wasn’t a lake, it looked like a lake but it was more of a river that comes in from the ocean. Didn’t know this till we saw a bunch of dolphins swimming by. The water was super warm too. Over 80° water temperature.

The next day we headed to an old historic town called Bath. We went into their visitor Center and then did the walking tour of the town. Lots of history there and super old houses built in the 1700’s.

From there we continued on to Morris Farm Market which is another Harvest Host Location. They have a HUGE amount of property and an amazing assortment of goodies. Plus they have 5 of the friendliest cats we have ever met.

While we were in the market a big storm came through. Lasted a few minutes. Glad I didn’t have to drive in that.

Next day drove through the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel into Virginia. That’s always quite an experience going through that. We found a nice state park on the water and decided to stay a couple of nights. Site F1 at the Kiptopeke State Park. They have these old cement ships they they use as a barrier here. I never knew they made ships out of cement. Seems so odd. There’s a bunch of Pelicans that live on them and other birds as swell. It’s pretty cool.

Next day we headed into a quaint little small town in Maryland or maybe it was Virginia. We spent some time at the local park and walked around the Main Street where we found a cute little Bakery and they had these Gigantic Cinnamon buns. They were bigger than my head and so delicious. Soft and Sweet.

From there we headed to Cracker Barrel for dinner and an overnighter. All went well. Next day drove a little further north and found this huge mall. We spent a couple of hours in the Apple Store. They offer classes now so we took two. The first one was all about photography with your phone. It was so informative. We learned so many new things to make our photos so much better. The second class was how to make an app using code.  Both classes were excellent. There’s another one tomorrow on the Apple Watch that maybe we might go back for. In the meantime we are spending the night at Cabelas. There’s a few other RVs

Headed a little further down the road and finally after 5 months of searching. I finally found chocolate Italian Ices. MY FAVORITE!! It’s amazing to me that this flavor is strictly a NY flavor. Was so happy to have found it, that I bought one, went shopping and came back and bought another.

We headed further on and did another photography class at Apple and then had some lunch at PF Changs. It was Mother’s Day so the place was pretty crowded. I had a nice FaceTime Mothers Day call with Kenny and Kaitlin and then we headed back on the road.

Next day we made it to my Dads house. It’s crazy how many cars are in NJ and how aggressive the driving becomes. Our visit was great. Rosemarie always treats us like royalty. She’s an amazing cook and we love eating so it’s a perfect match.

We washed the van while we were there. It always takes forever but boy does it look great. We spent the night and then headed out to visit with my brother. Of course it rained for the next two days and the van didn’t look as clean as it was. Kenny and Kaitlin came for a visit. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos except one. My nephew Ryan and their dog Yogi.

Time on Long Island means doctors appointments and Van maintenance. The van will be spending the next month in my brothers driveway as Greg and I travel for a month to ITALY!!

More about that in the next blog. We head out on Monday.
